The Lady Barons did it! Coming in they knew it would be close, they knew it wouldn’t be easy, and they stepped up in every way possible. THEY ARE THE 2018 DIVISION 1 CHAMPS and EARNED it every step of the way today. THREE new team records……Jill Berger going under 5-minutes in 500 free (4:58.07) for the first time in school history, a lifetime best, and a 2018 MCPS best; Jazz Barry knocking 2-seconds off the 100 breast record with a 1:05.76; and in the final event of the meet, the relay team of Jill Berger, Caroline Hallmark, Caroline Karson, and Samantha Smith knocked 4 seconds off the team record in the 400 Free Relay (3:35.53) to not only win the event, but seal the team title!!!!!! Other highlights include Maddy, Ellie, and Emma going 1, 2, 4 in diving, Katie Stevenson’s lifetime/near lifetime bests in 200/500 free, Caroline Hallmark’s lifetime best in 200 free, Jill Berger’s lifetime best in 200 IM, Rachel Danegger’s season best in 50 free, Christina Trnkus dropping 6 total seconds between 100 fly/back, Delia Vanderzon’s two lifetime bests in 100 free/back, Gabi Meisel outperforming seed by 10+ points in IM and breast, Nellie Trnkus earning two new Metros cuts in IM/500, Samantha Smith nearly running down the field in 100 back, Ashley Byrnes with the season best 100 free….every single girl from this morning did their part to earn the title. You don’t win a meet like today’s or a division like the top division in MCPS without a total team effort and a season long focus. Congrats to all of our Lady Barons on a wonderful achievement!!!!!!
