On a day when her control eluded her on the mound, junior pitcher Kalin Condon found other ways to contribute to the cause. Down 8 with two innings to go, the Barons rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th and another 5 in the bottom of the 7th to take down rival Churchill, 17-16. The Barons (3-2, 1-0) found an effective blueprint in the final frames, as sophomore Emma Fairbanks-Lee led off both innings by getting on base to set the table for Condon. Condon delivered in a big way both times with home runs. Seniors Cori Davis and Julia Dimmick (who had hit a home run of her own earlier in the game) followed Condon with big hits each time to extend the Barons’ late game surge. Sophomore Abby Leff, coming off the bench for the first time this season, came up with a triple in the 6th and ,after singling in the tying run in the 7th, came home with the winning run on a dropped third strike. The Barons will face off against Paint Branch high school on Wednesday.
