B-CC Beats Kennedy, 18-2
B-CC girls’ lacrosse got off to a sloppy and disorganized start, but found their rhythm mid-way through the first half and rolled to an 18-2 win over Kennedy in a first-round playoff game Wednesday night in Silver Spring.
Senior Center Audrey Zantzinger was dominant at the draw, and the team moved the ball quickly through transition all night. Zantzinger had 9 points on 4 goals and 5 assists, while Junior Midfielder Lindsey Archer shot very well and finished with a season-high 8 goals. Other standouts were Senior Defender Natalia Mobille, with 3 goals, 2 ground balls and lots of excellent defense; and Senior Abby Hopkins and Junior Jessie Zehner, both of whom kept pace with some very quick Kennedy midfielders, and logged minutes on both defense and attack for the Barons.
Others contributing points for B-CC: Sophomore Midfielder Catherine Gaffney (1 goal, 3 assists); Hopkins (1 goal); Sophomore Attack Ellie French (1 goal); Junior Attack Ardyn Kesterman, Sophomore Midfielder Maggie Lucas, Freshman Attack Maggie Paterson, and Freshman Defender Frannie Rosen (1 assist each).
Defensively for the Barons, forced-turnovers came from: Zantzinger (3); Lucas (2); and Paterson, Junior Attack Lucia Montoya-Cardenas, Freshman Attack Lindsay Kramer, and Sophomore Midfielder Liv Moffitt (1 each). Ground balls went to: Gaffney (5); Hopkins (3); Mobille (2); and Lucas, Paterson, Zehner, and Sophomore Attack Sydney Skalka (1 each). Freshman Goalie Tatiana Laguerre Ford had 4 saves on 6 shots by Kennedy.
The Barons advance to the section semi-final against Walt Whitman High School, Saturday at 2:00 pm, at Whitman. Congratulations to the Kennedy Cavaliers on a very good season.
