The Varsity Tennis Barons took on Montgomery Blair High School on Monday, and came away with a convincing 6-1 victory. The Barons rolled through the singles courts with seniors Pascal Lee and sophomore Zach Martel giving up a total of four games in their matches (Lee, 6-0, 6-4; Martel, 6-0, 6-0). On the third court, senior Matt Dubrow won a close match 6-4, 7-6; and at #4 singles, junior Channing Smith emerged victorious 6-2, 6-4. In the doubles matches, #2 doubles team of junior Thiem Garmani and frosh Eliot Lovinger won 6-2, 6-1, while senior Max Carmer returned to action with junior Andrew Cha to win tight match on the third court 7-5, 6-4. In the exhibition match, the frosh duo of Philippe Abizeid and Arseny Kazmine prevailed convincingly 6-2, 6-2. The Blazers’ only court came at #1 doubles (juniors Garrick Adams and Victor Platzer, 5 & 4). The Tennis Barons enjoyed the fan support of the Lacrosse Barons, which made for a festive and team-oriented atmosphere!
