13 BCC wrestlers traveled to Ocean City on Friday, January 18th to participate in what may be Maryland’s toughest high school tournament. Nineteen teams from Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania competed, including nationally ranked Mt. Saint Joe’s. BCC entered nine wrestlers in the varsity tournament. Alejandro Cubillian and Evan Wassmann drew tough first round matches and were out after losing in the consolation round. Aidan Moffitt won a match and Christian Simpson won two before being eliminated. Drew Guttentag won a very close blood round match but injured his foot in the effort and had to forfeit his remaining matches ending up with a 6th place finish. Jeo and Fabio Martinez would make it all the way to the consolation finals where they battled for a 3rd place finish. Jeo would end up placing 4th and Fabio, winning the consolation finals, placed 3rd. Eli and Ike Guttentag made it to the finals with Ike coming in second and Eli being crowned as the 132lb champion.
BCC also entered four wrestlers in the J.V. division, Emmanuel Oladapo, David Folivi, Andrew Atienza and Alhassane Kouyate. Andrew Atienza won the consolation finals, securing a 3rd place in finish. Emmanuel Oladapo won his finals match and earned a championship.
BCC hosts Blair on Wednesday, January 23rd.
