Dear Interested Cross Country Runners,
I know this is a crazy time, and next fall, rightfully so, is probably far from our thoughts and concerns right now, but I wanted to share some fall cross country information so that you all know what is going on and so that you can hopefully join us if you are interested. Our XC Team Information Document outlines most of what you need to know. I will also edit this document, as needed, with information as it changes or updates with the on-going pandemic that will surely alter how we do things this coming school year.

You might think that there’s nothing to get started on now since the season doesn’t start until August, but our summer training has already begun. We encourage all of our runners, new or returning, to run over the summer to gradually build a base of miles. We ask you to do this so you can improve on your fitness and give you an improved chance to make the team, but even more importantly, to keep you healthy. If you gradually build your mileage, instead of running too much, too quickly, you will build strength and prevent injuries.
One important thing I am waiting on is the athlete registration portal link and instructions. This will be how you register for sports in the fall. MCPS is releasing a new system for registration this summer, so once I have information I will send it out to you. How will I do that? Through our team’s yahoo group.
