Two hours after a bizarre hailstorm, B-CC Girls varsity lacrosse team fought hard against the Wootton Patriots on their Senior Night but unfortunately came up just short of what would have been an amazing comeback and lost 15-14 last night.
Saves from both Wootton’s goalie and Barons senior goalie Ellie Dura kept the score for the first half, B-CC 4 (goals all by junior Audrey Zantzinger) and Wootton 7.
The excitement came in the last half. Senior Katherine Vangaever started the Baron surge with a steal and quick pass to Zantinger who assisted to junior Natalia Mobille who scored. With additional goals by senior Cate Paterson and Catherine Gaffney, no goal was more celebrated than junior defender Abby Hopkins’ goal in the last minute. With 15 seconds left, Zantzinger managed to hurl the ball halfway across the field to Paterson, who scored her sixth with six seconds left to make the score 15-14. Despite coming back from a seven point deficit, including 4 goals in 2 minutes, there was not enough time for the Barons to find an equalizer.
Only 4 more games left for #pagánsarmy. Next game is on Tuesday April 25 at 7pm against rival Whitman. Come cheer our Barons!!
