B-CC won its 2nd game in a row, defeating visiting Wootton by a final score of 59-49. The win improves the team’s record to 6-8 on the season.

The Barons came out firing on all cylinders. Senior Geovanny Caceras put B-CC ahead 17-11 late in the 1st quarter by blocking a shot on the defensive end and then converting a layup plus the foul on the offensive end of the court. Senior Cameron Galic led B-CC with 8 1st quarter points and the Barons finished the first 8 minutes of play ahead by a score of 19-13. Junior Miles English put B-CC ahead 31-27 with 1:30 left in the 1st half, but Wootton rallied to tie the score at 31-31 on a 3-pointer just before the half-time buzzer.

Wootton went up by as many as 5 points late in the 3rd quarter, however senior Nate Ferguson tipped in a shot as time expired to end the 3rd quarter to pull B-CC to within 3 points at 44-41. Cameron scored 6 points in a row for B-CC early in the 4th quarter to put the Barons ahead 49-45 with 6 minutes to play. Neither team scored during the next 3 minutes of play before junior Thomas Baer made 2 free throws to give the Barons a 6-point advantage with under 3 minutes remaining. In addition to Thomas, Geovanny, Nate, Cam and Miles all added key free throws down the stretch for the Barons as they earned the hard fought victory. B-CC shot 19-25 from the line on the night, and the team’s stifling defense held Wootton to just five 4th quarter points.

Miles led the Barons with 19 points, followed by Cameron with 17 and Geovanny with 8. Nate added 7 points, followed by Thomas with 6. Junior Ben Friedman added a bucket for the Barons.

B-CC will look to keep its winning streak going at Wheaton next Wednesday. Game time is 7:15pm.
